Windsor Castle and Baie du Courrier (Courrier Bay) with its dream sandy beach are located on the west coast of the Big Island. The Baie du Courrier offers a captivating landscape thanks to its wild beauty and its tourist attractions to satisfy all the lovers of nature: expanses of mangroves, salt marshes, baobabs, pachypodiums... Baie du Courrier this gigantic bay, whose coast extends over nearly 200km, is completely preserved.
It is the starting point for many tourist activities: hiking, deep-sea fishing, snorkeling or diving. To top it all, this is the entrance to the small neighboring islands such as Nosy Hara archipelago Marine National Park, Goat Island, Gull Island, an arch of wild and magical nature (Tortoises, Terns, Whales, Dolphin) which will surprise the lovers of nature.

The Windsor Castle (391m) is an important monolith, a sentinel that can be seen from Diego Suarez. Its rise in a singular vegetation, mangrove, wooded savannah and dry forest (succulent plant, pachypodium, aloe, euphorbia ...) constitutes an excellent a military fortification of the colonial era that is dominating the region.
Windsor Castle is an old fort built by the French in 1900, on a 391m high promontory. You can imagine the work at the time, assembling all those stones in sweltering heat... Enjoying an exceptional view of the region, they established an observation post from which they could see the enemy coming. It was all for naught, because during the invasion of Courrier Bay by the British in 1942, the telephone line was cut and the observation post was unable to warn anyone. There are times like that...
Ascent there is rather rough, the slope is steep and the sun beats down mercilessly. Fortunately, the more you climb the more the wind lowers the temperature. But the surprising sight on 360° is worth to adventure. From there you can enjoy a spectacular panoramic view of the North of Madagascar, it is breathtaking. One has a view on the big bay of Diego, the canal of Mozambique (on the West), the plain of Anamakia and the saltworks (in the South), the Montagne d'Ambre, Indian Ocean (in the East), Babaomby region and Cap d'Ambre with its beautiful oceanic landscapes, the northernmost point of the island, accessible only in the dry season.
At the bottom of the fort, you can see the village of Ampasindava and Courrier Bay and its beautiful beach, where bungalows invite you to spend a few days at the edge of the world for a relaxing holiday...
The cottage is managed by Jojo and Etiennette, a very friendly Malagasy couple, both passionate about fishing, who decided to settle in this remote corner of the world to indulge their passion. The NDAO-i-Travel understands how this couple fell in love with this privileged universe that is the Courrier Bay, where the stars are counted by thousands and where wild fauna and flora, both terrestrial and maritime, fascinate.
Situated on the seafront on a beach close to the mangrove, below the Windsor Castle, the cottage offers individual bungalows, or rather traditional Malagasy huts, typical of the region.
