Madagascar is still an entirely undersold destination we won’t lie and say it’s the easiest destination to design a trip in. Madagascar is indeed a world apart. Its forests are home to diademed sifakas, indris, fossas and tenrecs, while baobabs and pachypodia punctuate its desert landscapes. Curious about those exotic-sounding names? Head outside and have an adventure and explore at your own pace. The animals here are by no means tame, but they aren’t dangerous either. There are no large predators lying in wait for a meal, or poisonous amphibians lurking in the ponds – none that are harmful to humans anyway. You won’t find lions and leopards, or elephants and rhinos wandering around your lodge at night. You may, however, spot a cheeky lemur hanging out on the balcony or dancing round the gardens, or a colourful chameleon giving you the eye from a nearby tree. For even the best-traveled, Madagascar offers a kaleidoscope of discoveries. Enjoy a nice walk and make the most of the fresh air at the Madagascar's open-air markets. In Madagascar, most of your exploring is done by foot. No need to hide behind you vehicle. This is a much more hands-on experience where you can really get involved with your surroundings, exploring all the nooks and crannies. Experienced travelers are used to goodbyes, but that doesn't mean they get any easier. When the time comes to depart the wonderful Madagascar, we wouldn't be surprised if you were already planning a return trip!

It is a five-day trek from Toamasina, located in the East of Madagascar for the experienced hiker, in good health. Sauvage means ‘unspoiled’ or ‘wild’. The Sauvage hike will lead you through an area where the influence of mankind is minimal and tourists are hardly ever seen. You will spend the nights in different villages. If you do not mind living in a basic and remote setting for a few days, you will visit places where few have gone before, and where you are likely to see lemurs, chameleons and other animals endemic to Madagascar.

A five-day trek from Toamasina, deep into the forest, to spot the Babakoto, as the Indri-indri is locally known, or one of the other thirteen species of lemur that live here. You’d better be in good shape, have some walking experience and don’t mind living in primitive circumstances for a few days. But then, unforgettable experiences will fall to you, breathing air never polluted by motor-vehicles, sleeping in a tent in the forest, falling asleep with the sound of rippling water and waking up with the songs of the indri-indri…
