This hike in the Isalo National Park is for beginners but motivated riders. A hike is accessible for visitors of all ages and any levels of training, capable to go for a walk of 2 hours on horseback.
The package includes: hiking, 2 days horse riding. Horse riding hikes length 2 to 3 hours per day on average; 1 night: in bivouac – individual tent; Full Board: 1 Breakfast, 2 picnic Lunches, 1 Dinner at the bivouac; Beverages: Included during bivouac for wine and aperitif; Assistance vehicle for luggage and camp equipment.
A cook, a driver and 2 guides will accompany you in this adventure. However, the participation of the horse-riders is required: we must prepare their horses and take care of them when arriving at the camp.
ENJOY THIS... adventure:
Day 1: In the morning, we will follow the circuit Cascade de Nymphes, Piscine Noire and Bleue natural pool. Easy trek (3.5 hours), however, the ascent from the river up the waterfall or to the Black Swimming Pool can be more strenuous. This tour takes you through the canyon to the Black and Blue Swimming Pools. You will climb along waterfalls inhabited by many rare birds, butterflies and lizards. From the top, one has a panoramic view over the green canyon. Throughout this trek you will have the possibility to spot lemurs. The highlight is a bath in the dark waters of the Black and Blue Swimming Pools. Back to the hotel at lunch and break.
After having a rest, we will go to the equestrian center for preparing our horses. Around 15h, we start for a walk of about 2 hours on horseback along the rocks. We will go along the crest trail, where you can enjoy the view above the Ambatosola area. You will see lemurs along the rocky walls. Aperitif and bivouac in the shade of tapia trees, at a viewing point dominating the plain and its small village Bara. Dinner and overnight.
Day 2: After early breakfast departure in the park’s plains, crossing the plain and glimpses of Bara tombs, before reaching the Golden Lake crest. We have a picnic lunch near another lake not far from a wild ducks’ reserve. In the afternoon, we return to the equestrian center and the hotel.
About accommodation: A 4x4 car ensure logistics for night bivouac. We provide: Individual Igloo Tent; Foam mattress, blanket; Toilets; Table and chairs for dinners; Camp stoves.
About meals: Full Board with wine and aperitif during bivouac. Meal plan: Breakfast: cheese, bread, butter and jam, fruits plate, juice, tea, coffee. Lunch or picnic: Chicken and rice, vegetables and salads, fruits…; Dinner: Barbecues, ginger chicken, typical Malagasy dishes…
About safety: We always brief our customers before we go on a trek. We strongly recommend wearing a riding helmet (provided by us). We have telephone and radio links with the surrounding hotels. We have our own insurance policy but we strongly advise horse riders to subscribe to an individual insurance more efficient than our local insurance.
