Whale Festival – Nosy Boraha
– Sainte Marie Island – Madagascar

Whale watching safari… Spectacular ballet

On the horizon is the season of love for humpback whales. Come and discover the island of Sainte-Marie in Madagascar on the occasion of the next Whale Festival. The WHALE FESTIVAL is a unique opportunity to greet these marine mammals which migrate every year to the warm, shallow waters of Nosy Boraha (Sainte Marie Island) in the heart of the Indian Ocean Sanctuary. These noble creatures choose each year to visit the calm waters of the island Sainte-Marie where we meet them at the beginning of July. All tourist facilities are ready to welcome you on the occasion of the Festival des Baleines.

This major international event is a living expression of human warmth, cultural openness and the vitality of Saint-Marie. Initiated and conducted by the Tourist Office of Sainte Marie (OTSM) and CETAMADA, this Festival is a joyful and colourful tourist flagship, combining forces committed to a sustainable future.

We are proud to welcome you in lush vegetation and magnificent beaches with preserved coral reefs. Come dive into the turquoise waters of many coves and lagoons from the wild natural pools of the North to the beautiful setting of the Nosy Nattes on the south, not to mention the peninsula of Ampanihy, teeming with life often endemic. Admire a great fauna and flora on land or at sea. With the passionate eco-guides of Cétamada, experience the fantastic thrill of acrobatics offered by humpback whales, true winged giants of the oceans.

At the initiative of: CETAMADA, an association under Malagasy law for the protection of marine mammals and their habitat, which provides scientific and environmental support; THE OFFICE OF TOURISM OF SAINTE MARIE, (OTSM) private organization, having as mission the tourist development of the island of Sainte-Marie; The LOCAL POPULATION, which has historically always been in contact with whales staying from June to September in the coastal waters of an authentic and hospitable island.

No bypass buoy, straight line along the coast in the path of the vagaries of the winds. Finish in the heart of the Festival.
